Nokia and Vodafone have posted the early draft review of JSR-249 Mobile Service Architecture 2. The Java ME community has developed a unified Java application environment standard for mobile phones as part of the JSR 248 Mobile Service Architecture (MSA) specification.
GWT 1.5 M2 Offers Support for Java 5
Google has released the second milestone of GWT 1.5, an open source Java-to-JavaScript compiler and library for building AJAX applications in Java. The major new feature in version 1.5 is support for Java 5, including generics, enums, annotations, and the enhanced for loop. Borland's developer tools unit, Codegear, is now vying for a new lease of life after languishing on the sales block for more than six months now. Data management and admin tools vendor Embarcadero Technologies has announced it was buying CodeGear from Borland for the fire sale price of $23 million.

Borland's Silk 2008 Test Suite Boosts RIA
Borland has revamped its QA testing suite with important new functions. The new Borland Silk 2008 product line, released last month, offers updated versions of Borland SilkTest, SilkPerformer and SilkCentral Test Manager. The fresh offerings target software test and QA operations and mark a significant evolution in the Silk product family, which was acquired in 2006 when Borland purchased Segue Software. Borland claims it has released updates to SilkTest on an average of every six months since its $100 million acquisition of Segue.
Developers Rank MS Web 2.0 Program Over Google, Facebook
Software developers active in Web 2.0 development ranked Microsoft's MSN/Live Windows Developer Program higher than developer programs offered by Google, eBay, Yahoo, Facebook, or PayPal in the 2008 Evans Data Corp. Web 2.0 Developer Programs Users' Choice survey announced today and conducted in March of this year.
